Sophie Uterus
Please note that this product is a digital download of a PDF file: it is a pattern, not a physical model.
Difficulty – Intermediate.
As a perinatal practitioner, I know how important it is to have great quality, eye catching, memorable teaching resources that LAST. I use this uterus model on every course and parents always really engage with it. You can make it in any colour or combination of colours you like.
- Use with a soft bodied doll or a balloon to demonstrate how contractions work to dilate the cervix. The ribbed knit design of the cervix enables it to stretch to demonstrate thinning, effacement and dilation.
- Choose different colours for the cervix and fundus to help clients understand uterine anatomy.
- The ligaments can be made with poppers to enable you to attach the uterus to your pelvis model to demonstrate uterine positioning.
This uterus is named Sophie after a fellow birth educator who appreciated and bought my design.

This model uses a combination of crochet techniques and knitting in the round on double pointed needles. With clear instructions and step-by-step, full colour photography, I hope you will find this pattern intuitive and fun to follow.
Difficulty – Intermediate
If you have any problems with the pattern or need my help, please just get in touch, I’m happy to help.
